We will be headlining Isle of Wight Festival with our good friends Bigtopp. They have recently announced that they are going to do one more summer season and then unfortunately hang up their topp hats. So expect something really special, Friday night, Midnight! Be There
Hello there! Its been quite a while since we posted. We have had to take some time off at the beginning of the year and most of the summer we have been working on new tracks. So we haven’t had much to say, until now!
We have added a couple of new members to beef up the sound. Joining us again, on Lead Guitar, is Robert Capewell who featured on our Gotta Move On EP! A really good friend of most of the band, its almost like he didn’t stop 3 years ago! Also joining us on Keys, is Mr Jez Gray. Stolen from a local Afro-Beat act called Fellowship of Groove, he has added all the bubble we could of asked for.
With them all rehearsed up, and with some new songs, we are now getting ready to jump into the studio to record our Debut Album! We are working with some exciting dudes on the production side of things and we cant wait to get it out to you. More info on this in the new year!
As for gigs, we have one more show of the year, Friday, 16th December, Quay Arts. We hope you can make it! Get your tickets here, http://www.quayarts.org/event/bus-shelter-fundraiser/
We hope you have a great Christmas and New Years, We will see you soon!
Festival season 2015 has been very good to us and it wouldn’t of been the same without all you lot!
As you all know we had some new members this year, Oli Morris & Ross Moore. If you didn’t get chance to see us through the summer, anyone that did can tell you that they have settled in very well and are smashing the stage with us with a complete rework of all the brass. Something that for me is a very important part of The Ohmz.
We have some plans for the winter to get all the new ideas together ready for next year and that’s just the start of it. More to follow on that.
But for now I’d like to take the time to for some thanks and blessings,

So its nearly here, Isle of Wight festival! It doesn’t feel like its been a year since we stepped onto the fields of Seaclose Park and a lot has changed with us in that year.
We don’t want you to miss what we’ve been working on and we’re happy to announce our set times for both the Kashmir Cafe & the Boheman Woods.
Saturday night we will be smashing the Kashmir Cafe from 10pm with our friends Bigtopp after and local legends Born ina Barn! As always, Kashmir is the place to be on the Saturday.
But if we clash with another act that night, don’t you worry. 9pm Sunday afternoon we will be playing at the Bohemian Woods stage. The headliner of the day is Bestival band competition winners from earlier this year, YRSLF! be sure to check them out!
Hope to see you all there and if you can’t make it to this years Isle of Wight festival, we hope to see you in a field soon!
Hello there! We’ve been pretty quiet recently and there is a reason why.
So 6 weeks ago (doesn’t seem that long already) we had to say farewell to our Leo. It was a time that was hard for all of us at The Ohmz and we knew that finding some sort of a replacement was going to be a challenge.
Today is the day that we announce that our challenge has been completed. It’s been tough but here it is…
I said that replacing Leo was going to be a challenge, so we are also announcing another new member!
Joining Bob and Oli, as a phatter brass section…
On Trombone…. Please welcome….
Ross Moore! After spending some time playing with countless reggae bands around the country including The Popes of Chilitown (check out their new single here https://youtu.be/ZRIfc8q5c3s), Ross has already brought so much to our sound, and you lot are going to love it! He has ripped apart the brass already, laid it all out and put it back together to make this 3 part brass section as good as we can. And it’s still early days.
To welcome them properly we are heading up country to play a few gigs and 1st stop is one of the favs for last summers tour with Bigtopp, The Noel’s Arm, Melton Mowbray. But do not fear! We are back home playing a show in one week for a Battle Of The Bands at The 1st Floor, Newport. So come down and give them your support!
As for now, why not enjoy this clip of our new brass section playing Outside
Yesterday we had some sad news, but today’s news is much better!
This year we have some new festivals to play, and we are EXTREMELY excited about them, and some old favourites too.
Ladies and Gentleman, we are very happy to be able to tell you that we are playing at this year’s –
Thats right, the biggest Reggae/Ska festival in the UK are going to have some “Ohmz grown reggae” (see what I did there?) straight from the Isle of Wight. We’ve been wanting this one for quite a while now and what a year to be asked along?! Stephen Marley, Katchafire, Soja – oh and of course our good friends Bigtopp are just a few acts that are on the lineup.
This is another festival that we’ve been eyeing-up, waiting for the chance to spread our message of positivity to the crowds. This festival of Reggae is the perfect place. Little Roy & Macca B will both be playing this one. Can’t wait!
Isle of Wight Festival!
It’s a local one, and a lively one, and we’re happy to be playing it again this year.
Thats it…. for now! We will keep you all updated as soon as we’re confirmed for any others. Hope to see you on a field during the summer!
It started in early 2011, back in the before time. I remember sitting at home having a jam when our old bassist Ant came in, saying “This is Leo” – a quiet little girl holding on to her saxophone case. After I managed to blag her into staying for a bit to drink tea, and to show me what she could play, I knew that there was a good musical vibe. I remember asking her to play Keeps Me Going, a song that I had just written with brass in mind…. this is the outcome.
Yeah it was a long time ago, and recorded in a bedroom, but this is when I knew this is what The Ohmz needed. And when I asked her, I remember the quiet little girl turned into an extremely excited Leo. Well the next gig we had lined-up was Jazz on the Meadow 2011, and what a chance for her to experience what was in store for her! I got her up for just the one song and it all went from there.
It was all a bit scary for her, but she pulled it off. From there it was going to get better. She was with us when we played Isle of Wight festival for the first time, Bestival for the first time, Rhythmtree,- I could carry on and on with how much has happened since.
But enough of back then. Its time to talk about now, and whats going on. After 4 years of seeing something grow, we have to say goodbye. The 4th of April will be Leo’s last gig with us, as she is going to be moving abroad (and I don’t mean just the mainland!). It was very difficult for her to make this decision as you can all probably tell, but from all of us here, we want to wish her well on her travels and we hope to see you back soon!
Q1. What was the highlight of your 2014? Oly:Watchet LIVE Festival was rad, even though I had a nice little trip to the hospital with an infected finger! [We won’t ask what you were doing with that finger to get it infected… -Ed]. The summer tour with Bigtopp was another highlight – such a laugh, even if it was hard work.
Q2. What was your favourite artist/band discovery of 2014? O: That’s easy – Natty at Bestival ’14. Smashed it on the new Reggae Roots stage, which we opened this year!
Q3. What are you most excited about for 2015? O: As always the summer! Bring on the festivals!
If you’ve got a question for Oly, post a comment below!
